Who We Are

The Violence Against Women Coordinating Committee (VAWCC), is part of the community-based, grassroots, cross-sectoral committees working together to improve community responses for women and children experiencing violence.

Our mission is to provide seamless and responsive social and justice systems that increase the safety and overall well-being of women and their children impacted by, at risk of, or are victims of intimate partner violence by enhancing inter-agency cooperation, collaboration, coordination and integration among existing community partners/service providers.

Committee seeks intimate partner violence epidemic declaration

Locally, intimate partner violence is rampant — in 2022, Victim Services of Nipissing District received 475 calls for service and the North Bay Police Service responded to approximately 1,200 domestic-related calls.  The Nipissing Violence Against Women Coordinating Committee (VAWCC) will present to municipal councils this summer with a request to declare intimate partner violence (IPV)…
